Recording professional sounding guitar tracks at home?
I am thinking of purchasing a BossGT10 multi-effects processor and using this for recording my guitar instrumentals.. but how do i acheive that smooth heavy Gary Moore type sound?
i hear that a lot of people use these Mixers in conjunction with their effects pedals and then record straight in to PC software (which i am using Cakewalk guitar tracks)
all i am interested in is the professional sounding tone.. help, links and personal experience would be most appreciated. thanks
Actually, lots of professional recordings are done by recording a dry guitar track (guitar straight into the recording interface), and then treated with amp simulation software.
People usually don’t do this with the tracks that get focus, but it’s becoming increasingly common for various backing tracks. From a mix perspective, it’s great. You’re not stuck with a certain guitar sound. If it ends up not working with the mix, no problem!
If you’re looking for a Gary Moore type of sound though, you need to get a tube amp, crank it, and stick an SM57 in front of it.
