Whats a good guitar for a beginner?
A regular six string guitar (electric preferably) for beginners. Any suggestions? I have a $80-100 limit, maybe more. Also any guitar practice book recommendations? Thanks

For electric guitar you’ll not only need a guitar, but also an amplifier, strap, cable, tuner, picks, extra strings, and a good lesson book (as you said). Good thing you can spend up to $300 now because you wouldn’t have found anything good at all for $100 or less!
I’m not a huge fan of starter packs, but on your budget these are probably good options:

As far as instruction books, I recommend either Hal Leonard or Mel Bay. Start with book 1 and learn the basics before you just start finding tabs of your favorite songs and memorizing them.
You might look around for something used though and get a better quality guitar and amplifier for the same price. As an example, I’m selling a Samick AV3 Les Paul style guitar and hard shell case with a 20 watt Raven amplifier with 12″ speaker. I included a cable, strap, tuner, and extra strings to make it a complete package all for $325. If you’re willing to shop around used and choose better individual components you can get a better setup than if you just buy the starter pack and settle for the 15W amp with an 8″ speaker because that’s what they packaged with the guitar to keep the price low. But, for a beginner the starter packs I provided links to are decent and will get you going and you can replace pieces as you progress. You’ll probably want a better amp pretty soon!
